Thalia Thompson, M.S., I.E.C., has dedicated her career to college admissions counseling, academic planning, and career development.
For over 25 years, she has counseled thousands of students on the college admissions process, career exploration/planning, college major selection, credit transfer, and life transitional issues.
As a professional counselor, her emphasis is always on what makes sense for the psychological/emotional well-being of her clients.
As Director of the Paraprofessional Academy at the City University of New York for 18 years, she counseled adults in transition as they enrolled in college for the first time or returned to college after an extended absence.
She also served as a liaison between the New York City Department of Education, the United Federation of Teachers, and public and private colleges as they collaborated to better serve teaching assistants with their educational/career goals.
She has conducted institutional research, written and secured grants, developed curricula, spearheaded collective bargaining achievements, and provided staff development/training to thousands of adult learners.
Thalia has also taught numerous advanced-level courses in developmental psychology at Empire State College/State University of New York, has spoken nationally about educational/career advancement, and has been a frequent and sought-after consultant for various organizations, institutions, and publishers of educational resources.
Thalia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from Cornell University and a Master's degree in Counseling from Syracuse University.
She is a Professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), a Professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and is a certified Title IX and ADA 504 Coordinator.
